Travonee (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal data when you use our website at www.travonee.com, mobile features, or any associated services (“Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following:
- Account Information: Username/name, email address (for registration, login, notifications).
- Location Data: Precise geolocation (latitude/longitude), updated approximately every 3 minutes when enabled. This powers “Places Near You”, “Nearby Travelers”, check-ins, and safety features.
- User-Generated Content: Photos, posts, check-ins, comments you upload/share within Travonee.
- Technical Data: Device info, IP address, browser type, usage logs.
- Other: Voluntary info you provide (e.g., support requests).
We minimize data collection and do not collect sensitive categories (health, religion, etc.) unless voluntarily shared in posts.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide core features: real-time discovery, check-ins, nearby connections, map, weather, currency converter, safety tools.
- Improve the Service, communicate updates, ensure safety/abuse prevention.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Location processing is based on your explicit consent (given during onboarding/enabling) and legitimate interests for location-based travel services.
3. Background Location
We collect background location updates (when app not in foreground) only with your explicit “Always Allow” permission on your device. This is strictly for core features like nearby traveler discovery and safety. You can revoke or change to “While Using” or “Never” anytime via device settings or in-app settings → we stop immediately.
4. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell your data for any reason.
Sharing occurs only in limited cases:
- With other users: Username, approximate location (if active), public check-ins/posts visible within Travonee for social features.
- Emergency situations: Name, email, last location shared with emergency services/law enforcement/contacts only if necessary to protect your vital interests/safety.
- Your explicit request: If you ask to share/export data.
- Third-party service providers: Trusted providers (e.g., weather APIs like OpenWeatherMap, currency APIs, mapping services, cloud hosting, analytics like Google Analytics – anonymized) under strict contracts. They get minimum data needed and cannot use for own purposes.
- Legal requirements: Court order, government request under Sri Lankan law.
Your photos/content never shared outside Travonee without permission.
You can deactivate location sharing anytime in settings – location stops recording/sharing (past data remains unless deleted).
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
On www.travonee.com we use essential cookies (for login/sessions), analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics – anonymized usage), and preference cookies. Manage/disable via browser settings. Essential ones required for functionality.
6. Your Rights (under PDPA No. 9 of 2022 & app guidelines)
- Access, correct, delete your data.
- Withdraw consent (e.g., deactivate location).
- Object to processing.
- Lodge complaint with Personal Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka.
Account Deletion: Delete your account and all data directly in-app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). We process within 30 days (or sooner per law), deleting location history, posts, etc. (except limited retention for legal/security).
7. Data Security & Retention
We use encryption, secure storage, etc. Data kept only as needed or by law. Account deletion removes most data promptly.

Not for under 16.
