This feature is especially valuable for solo travelers, backpackers, and anyone who prefers traveling with company or wants quick local insights from people actually in the same area.
Technical Explanation & Limitations
Nearby Travelers relies on your device’s GPS technology to determine proximity and display nearby users. While highly effective in open areas, GPS performance can be affected by real-world conditions:
- Indoor locations or tall buildings may reduce accuracy or cause delayed detection
- Bad weather (heavy rain, storms) can interfere with satellite signals
- Some older or budget smartphones may have weaker GPS chips, leading to less precise results
In such cases, nearby users may not appear immediately or the distance may be approximate. The system never shares exact coordinates, only approximate proximity within the 20 km radius.

This feature empowers safer, more social travel across Sri Lanka by connecting people who are already close, turning strangers into potential friends or helpers in real time.
