How to Use Weather – Step by Step
- Current Location Weather (Homepage Section) On the homepage, look for the Weather section.
- It automatically shows the current weather conditions for your exact location.
- Location must be enabled and Travonee must have permission to access your GPS for this to work accurately.
- Tap/click the section to expand and see more details (temperature, humidity, wind, rain chance, etc.).
- Island-Wide Weather Overview Click the Weather section on the homepage → it opens a view showing weather conditions for major places across Sri Lanka.
- Scroll or zoom to see forecasts for different regions (Colombo rain, Kandy clouds, Galle sun, etc.).
- Weather for a Specific Travel Place If you want the forecast for a particular destination:
- Search for the place or find it in the Travonee Map or Directory.
- Go to that place’s full details page (by clicking a marker, card, or search result).
- The weather section on that page will display current conditions + forecast specifically for that location.
- This makes it easy to plan: “Will it rain tomorrow in Sigiriya?” or “Is it sunny in Arugam Bay next week?”
Technical Explanation & Limitations
Weather data relies on your device’s GPS to detect your current location accurately. While reliable in most cases, GPS performance can be affected by real-world factors:
- Indoor locations or tall buildings may reduce accuracy or cause delayed detection
- Bad weather (heavy rain, storms) can interfere with satellite signals
- Some older or budget smartphones may have weaker GPS chips, leading to less precise location readings
In such cases, the shown weather may be for a nearby approximate area rather than your exact spot. Additionally:
- Weather forecasts are predictions based on meteorological models, they are not 100% guaranteed and can change.
- Sudden weather shifts (common in Sri Lanka’s tropical climate) may not always be predicted perfectly.
